CentOS 6.0 is made and developed entirely based on RHEL 6.0 and includes all upstream software packages. CentOS 6.0 therefore also has all the features of RHEL 6.0.

Integrate kernel-based virtualization. CentOS 6.0 integrates kernel based virtualization to fully integrate KVM managers into the kernel. Such features can help CentOS 6.0 users easily migrate virtual machines between hosts, more flexibly deploy and manage IT resources, and effectively save resources for the enterprise. Taking advantage of the kernel''s hardware abstraction enables applications to be independent of the underlying hardware, and increases CPU and memory scalability, allowing each server to accommodate more virtual machines.

Improve system and resource management functions. The standard Linux manageability specification (SBLIM) USES web-based enterprise management (WBEM) to manage systems. Replacing mkinitrd with Dracut minimizes the impact of underlying hardware changes, makes it easier to maintain, and makes it easier to support third-party drivers.

Enhanced power management and on-time kernel improvements enable CentOS 6.0 to idle processors without active tasks in order to reduce CPU temperature and further reduce power consumption.

CentOS 6.0 provides fine-grained control, allocation, and management of hardware resources with the help of a new framework called control groups, or cgroups. Cgroups runs at the process group level and can be used to manage resources from CPU, memory, network, and hard disk I/O for applications."
